NT appoints second silk
The NT Law Society has extended its congratulations to Miles Crawley SC, who took silk in the Supreme Court of Darwin this week.

NT barrister Miles Crawley SC has been acknowledged by the state law society after being appointed a senior counsel in Darwin. He becomes the second silk practising at the private civil bar in the Territory.

Law Society Northern Territory president Tass Liveris said his appointment was well-deserved.
“Mr Crawley has been in practice for many years in South Australia and the Northern Territory, and he demonstrates all of the attributes required for appointment as senior counsel,” Mr Liveris said.
“His appointment is part of an important development of the local civil bar, so that it is equipped and able to provide legal services across the full spectrum of need in the community,” he said.
Originally from South Australia, Mr Crawley relocated to the Northern Territory in 2010. He was first admitted to the legal profession in Adelaide in 1979.
When Mr Crawley relocated to the NT as a solicitor in 2010, he began practising at a law firm in Darwin.
The law society said that since joining the private bar in 2012, Mr Crawley has practised predominantly in insurance law, trusts and equity, contracts, medical negligence and misconduct, work health and industrial relations and employment law. He also serves as NT branch secretary to the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law.
“Mr Crawley’s appointment as senior counsel is a fitting recognition of his achievements across a wide range of courts and tribunals in the Territory over many years and the society congratulates him on his appointment,” Mr Liveris said.
