Accident compensation and self-insurance specialist Mary MacLeod (pictured) left Thomson Geer to join MinterEllison as a partner in Melbourne last week.

Ms MacLeod has more than 16 years' experience in both private and public practice, representing a broad client base that includes WorkSafe Victoria, Wesfarmers, Broadspectrum, Woolworths and various insurers and employers.

“Mary is an exceptional addition to the insurance & corporate risk team in Melbourne and her practice focus dovetails nicely with our workers' compensation [and] self-insurance offerings in the Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney and Adelaide offices,” said Peter Coats, national head of MinterEllison's insurance and corporate risk business unit.

“Her appointment reflects our strategic focus of offering clients national market-leading insurance capabilities. As more and more large companies turn to self-insurance as an option to maintain costs and efficiencies, our ability to offer large national employers and the government sector experienced capability in this specialised area ensures MinterEllison's team remains the pinnacle full-service insurance practice in Australia.”
