It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of academia, training and education organisations, including universities, TAFE colleges and vocational education and training providers.

Construction and Real Estate Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises a construction and real estate lawyer who has maintained a clear focus on current and future trends in the market.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of construction and real estate organisations, including residential and non-residential construction companies, residential and non-residential contractor companies, commercial and residential real estate agencies, and franchised or independent real estate agencies.

Consultancy Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises a consultancy lawyer who has played an integral part in implementing key business strategies in their organisation.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in organisations that provide consultancy services, including, but not limited to, audit, tax and executive search businesses, organisations that specialise in mergers and acquisitions, recruitment agencies and political or communication consultancy groups.

Defence, Security andor Cyber Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises an in-house lawyer who best services the unique needs of organisations operating in the defence, security and/or cyber industry.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of organisations relating to the defence, security and/or cyber industry, including businesses, agencies, departments and institutions involved in procurement and the delivery of defence, security and/or cyber capabilities.

Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) lawyer who has successfully implemented key strategies to drive their organisation to new heights.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of FMCG organisations that have representation in Australia, either through conducting national work or driving cross-border activities.

Financial Services Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises a banking and finance lawyer who has showcased commitment to securing transactions and ensuring outstanding financial outcomes for their organisation.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of Australian-operated organisations, including but not limited to the global and national businesses, regulators, regional financial institutions and mutual banks.

Government Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises the government lawyer who has most efficiently upheld legal responsibilities in a government organisation while enhancing opportunities for further growth and legislation.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of government organisations, including state and federal government departments and accredited agencies listed on the Australian government website.

Healthcare Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises a lawyer who works on behalf of an Australian organisation that operates in the broader health industry.

It includes in-house lawyers working in all types of healthcare organisations including pharmaceutical companies, biotech organisations and/or wellbeing organisations.

Industrial, Materials and Manufacturing Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises an industrial, materials and manufacturing lawyer who has displayed tenacity in their commitment to upholding legal responsibilities in this sector.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of industrial, materials and manufacturing organisations, including, but are not limited to, automotive companies, technology manufacturers and fashion distributors. This also includes importers and wholesale suppliers in the industrial, materials and manufacturing industries.

Infrastructure, Utilities and Energy Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises an infrastructure, utilities and energy legal team that has successfully capitalised on market opportunities and driven further business growth in its organisation.

It includes all employees that make up the legal team in an infrastructure, utilities and energy organisation, including but not limited to organisations that specialise in renewable energy, power and utilities projects, and nuclear and mining projects. This also includes organisations that are involved in land and resource access work.

Legal Operations Professional of the Year

This award recognises the team member enabling their legal department to deliver high-quality services.

It includes all types of legal operations professionals, from those who support strategic and financial planning to operational and technology matters in the legal function.

Not-For-Profit Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises an in-house lawyer who has played a vital role in ensuring their organisation successfully serves some of Australia’s most vulnerable.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of not-for-profit organisations, including social enterprises and charities.

Professional Services Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises an in-house lawyer working in a professional services sector that has played an integral part in implementing key business strategies within their organisation.

It includes in-house lawyers working in business and/or organisations in sectors such as accounting, tax, real estate, mortgage broking, wealth or superannuation.

Sports and Entertainment Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises an in-house lawyer who works for an organisation that operates in Australia’s sports and entertainment industry.

This award recognises the technology, media and telecommunications lawyer who has most effectively capitalised on evolving market opportunities and driven demonstrable growth in their organisation.

Transport and Logistics Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises a transport and logistics lawyer who has helped their organisation evolve with this changing sector.

Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises the travel, tourism and hospitality lawyer who has successfully navigated the market over the 12 months from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of travel, tourism and hospitality organisations, including airlines, hotels, tour operators, tourist attractions and experiences, travel agencies and booking services. This also includes importers and wholesale suppliers in the travel, tourism and
hospitality industries.

Construction and Real Estate Team of the Year

Fostering wellness in the workplace is a clear objective for many legal teams.

This award recognises both the legal departments and individual advocates that have demonstrated a commitment to their workforce via at least one significant wellness initiative.
