We weren’t just first to market—we created an entire industry of cloud-based legal technology.
In 2008, Jack Newton and Rian Gauvreau launched Clio after they saw the struggles solo lawyers and small firms face when running a business. Prior to Clio, legal practice management software was limited to server-based solutions designed for enterprise businesses. These solutions were incredibly costly to purchase, set up, and maintain, and most critically, they were beyond the means of most solo and small law firms, which make up the vast majority of legal practices.
Our impact echoes throughout the legal experience—our client-centred thinking and cloud-based technology transforms the way lawyers acquire clients, perform their legal work, and deliver services. Ultimately, we make it easier for lawyers and clients to connect and collaborate.
Clio enables law firms to run more flexibly, from anywhere, creating efficiencies from client intake to invoice, and enabling service structures that make legal offerings accessible to more people. This breaks down barriers for firms and clients to collaborate, allowing them to work together more thoughtfully and effectively.
Since 2008, Clio has grown to offer a suite of products and host hundreds of integrated legal technology solutions through our vibrant App Directory. We have a user base of over 150,000 legal professionals in over 100 countries and have earned the approval of over 90 bar associations, law societies, and regulatory bodies.
We are building more than a tech solution, we’re shifting a mindset.
