May worked at Herbert Geer for 36 years, leaving on 31 October. He joins Madgwicks in the firm’s Melbourne office in the role of senior counsel, tax.

May is a taxation lawyer with more than 30 years’ experience in disputes and litigation, taxation planning and complex trust and estate planning issues.

His clients include public and private companies, local government, incorporated associations, private individuals and charitable groups. He was also heavily involved in forestry industry investment matters across Australia.

Madgwicks managing partner Peter Kennedy said, “We are delighted that Tom is joining [us]. Tom's experienced background and talent will be of tremendous benefit to our clients.

“His appointment is important in bringing both the taxation and litigation expertise together, particularly when unforeseen Australian Tax Office and State Revenue Office issues arise.”
