King & Wood Mallesons has advised Singapore’s Keppel Telecommunications and Transportation on its entry into the Australian market.

The logistics and high-availability data centre provider is entering the market through a joint venture investment with the Brisbane based data communications services provider, iseek Communications.

The joint venture will manage the Gore Hill Data Centre Facility in Gore Hill, Sydney, Australia.

Mark Bayliss, senior associate, and real estate capital markets specialist, and solicitor Andrew Cork, lead the King & Wood Mallesons team.

The law firm said the transaction continues the strong flow of cross-border investment into Australian real estate assets by foreign investment managers and sponsors.

Bayliss said Keppel’s investment is an example of the emergence of Australian data centre facilities as a specialised class of real estate asset attracting institutional investment, which he said is in part driven by the NBN.
