Area: Energy

Key players: Clayton Utz’s partner Brett Cohen and senior associate Armin Fazely led the firm’s team.

Deal significance: Alcoa’s gas supply agreements will see gas supplied by BHP, Chevron and Woodside for the company’s south-west Western Australia alumina refineries.

Calling it a major and complex set of agreements, Clayton Utz said Alcoa is Western Australia’s largest consumer of gas.

New supply agreements will deliver around a quarter of Alcoa’s gas needs from 2020, representing a significant commitment by Alcoa to the state and its ongoing contribution to the economy, according to the firm.
