Lawyer X bail bid granted as drug dealer leaves prison
Drug trafficker and Tony Mokbel associate Zlate Cvetanovski will leave incarceration after the Court of Appeal conceded Nicola Gobbo interfered with his prosecution.
On a $400,000 surety, Mr Cvetanovski was granted bail on Tuesday, three months before his parole hearing in August. He has served 11 years behind bars for drug trafficking.

Mr Cvetanovski is appealing three criminal convictions he argues were tainted by Lawyer X’s informing with Victoria Police. He was convicted after one of Ms Gobbo’s drug clients, - who she had informed on - agreed to give evidence against Mr Cvetanovski.
Brendan Kissane QC, Victoria’s chief crown prosecutor, conceded that if the evidence by Ms Gobbo’s client had been excluded, “there would not have been a case”.
Mr Cvetanovski is one of many seeking to have their conviction overturned due to Lawyer X’s informing. Faruk Orman successfully appealed his 12-year murder sentence over the tainted evidence of one of Ms Gobbo’s clients and Saverio Zirilli had his first hearing.
