Area: Real estate.

Key players: The KWM team was led by partner and Western Australian head of real estate Carl Black.

Deal significance: Located on the southern headland of Gnarabup Beach, the resort will be renowned for its uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean and one of Western Australia’s most dramatic coastlines featuring numerous world-class surf breaks, Aaron Desange Western Australian head of capital markets at CBRE said.

Mr Black said that the Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa will be a major drawcard for the south-west region and will further boost Margaret River’s presence on the international stage.

“More than 15 regional and international operators bid for this opportunity underlying the scarcity of [five-star] resort development opportunities in thriving egional Australian leisure markets,” he said.

With direct access to the famous Cape to Cape walking trail, nearby national forests and ancient caves there is no shortage of nature experiences. The site is located in the heart of the Margaret River Region which features world-class wineries as well as an abundance of premium food produce and a thriving arts community.

Scheduled to open in 2023, Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa, is expected to feature 120 guestrooms, three on-site dining venues, 400 square metres of meeting space, extensive leisure facilities including a resort-style outdoor swimming pool and day spa.
