Area: Corporate, finance.

Key players: The legal team advising AgriWebb was led by Johnson Winter & Slattery partner Amit Jois, with assistance from partner Ravi de Fonseka, special counsel Andrew Ricciardi and associate Katherine McNamara.

Deal significance: In a statement supplied by Johnson Winter & Slattery, the capital raising represents one of the largest private funding rounds of 2021 thus far.

AgriWebb provides cloud-based farm management software that helps farmers digitise their business and enable data driven decision making to increase productivity, traceability and sustainability. The company was founded by Justin Webb, Kevin Baum and John Fargher in 2014 and now manages over 14 million cattle across 100 million acres worldwide, including more than 15 per cent of Australia’s national cattle herd, the statement explained.

Other funders in the round include the Australian Government-backed Clean Energy Finance Corporation, The Duke of Westminster’s agtech investment fund, The Wheatsheaf Group, and private investors such as the founder of Dunbia, the European meat processor. Funds will go towards helping AgriWebb accelerate its growth, initially focusing on the UK and the Americas.

“AgriWebb was started to help drive productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector. It has grown to be a $100 million business and we are delighted to have been able to support the company on this round of funding and its next phase of growth.”
