Mr Hassall, who is based in Sydney, joined the firm in May 1992, following which he was promoted to senior associate in 1995 and then partner in 2004. Most recently, he has led the firm’s national employment service line. He is also an accredited specialist in employment and industrial law and has completed a master of laws.

Speaking about his appointment, he said that he is “honoured” to take on the role of board chair.

“The board is focused on ensuring that we create real value for our clients and our people and I’m excited to be at the helm for the next three years,” he said.

National managing partner Phillip Salem added: “I congratulate Roland on his appointment and look forward to working closely with him over the next three years. I have no doubt Roland’s expertise and enthusiasm will prove invaluable in this role, further contributing to the success of the firm into the future.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing chair, Andrew White. Andrew has undertaken the chair role with distinction, demonstrating strong and effective leadership that has seen the firm make great strides forward in the last three years.”
