Swoop acquires Sydney dark fibre network

Australian telco company Swoop has acquired a 58-kilometre dark fibre network, covering the Sydney central business district and outer metro areas.

Deal: Maddocks has advised Swoop Holdings Limited on its acquisition of Sydney-based dark fibre provider Luminet.

Key players: The Maddocks team was led by partner Catherine Merity and included senior associate Tanja Maley and lawyer Fumiko Baughan.

Deal significance: Under the deal, Swoop will acquire Luminet’s 58-kilometre dark fibre network, which covers many of Sydney’s interconnection points, data centres and hyperscale facilities.

Catherine Merity said she was delighted to advise Swoop on its latest acquisition.

“Swoop is an ambitious company which is targeting developing into a national Australian telco and it is a pleasure to assist them as they execute their growth strategy,” she said.
