Gavin Forrest, the former managing partner and senior litigation partner of a first tier national law firm, joined Gadens Lawyers as a partner in July of this year. Forrest was a director of State Trustees for 12 years and has over 30 years’ experience in commercial litigation. His areas of practice include major corporate and contractual disputes, Trade Practices Act litigation, defamation and education law.

In April 2006, Doug Robertson joined as partner, bringing 25 years’ experience as a senior partner at one of Australia’s largest national law firms. He practises exclusively in corporate and commercial law, and his areas of expertise include floats and equity raisings, funds management and financial services, agribusiness and agricultural investment schemes, corporate transactions and technology and innovation.

In the same month, John OCallaghan joined as a partner with over 20 years’ experience working in commercial law, specialising in transport and logistics, corporate advice, franchising and sports law. His experience includes advice to transport companies and their directors on a range of legal issues including contracts, disputes, OH&S laws, trade responsibility, directors’ duties, trade practices and terms and conditions of trade.

Alan Cornell joined the firm in July 2006 as special counsel and is experienced as a general commercial lawyer. He specialises in takeovers, mergers, amalgamations, securities law, company law, investment law and mining law. Cornell came to Gadens from a first tier firm, at which he began in 1966, eventually rising to senior partner before moving on.
