Slater & Gordon has today (24 September) announced its staff promotions across the firm's offices in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.

In Victoria, Ben Phi has been promoted from senior associate to practice group leader in commercial and project litigation in the firm's Melbourne office. Phi joined Slater & Gordon in 2004 and specialises in shareholder class actions and litigation relating to financial products and services.

Craig Sidebottom has been promoted from senior associate to practice group leader in the workers' compensation field in Melbourne. Sidebottom is an accredited specialist in workers' compensation and has expertise in Transport Accident Commission claims. He has worked at the firm since 2004.

Manisha Blencowe has been promoted from associate to senior associate in commercial and project litigation in Melbourne. Blencowe started with the firm as a consultant in new client services in 2001 and was admitted to the bar in 2006. She has been an associate since 2008 and has been involved in a broad range of disputes and litigation.

Kirstie Grigor has been promoted from associate to senior associate in motor vehicle accidents in Preston. Grigor joined Slater & Gordon following the firm's acquisition of Kenyons Lawyers in late 2009. She started with Kenyons in 2002 and specialises in litigation, providing advice and representation in relation to traffic law, occupational health and safety prosecutions, coronial inquests and police matters.

Fleur Jackson has been promoted from associate to senior associate in workers compensation in Slater & Gordon's Ballarat office. Jackson started with the firm in 2008 when it acquired McGlades Lawyers.

In New South Wales, Christine Jeffress has been promoted from senior associate to principal lawyer in family law at Slater & Gordon's Sydney office. Jeffress joined the firm in 2008 and has been practising as a family lawyer for 15 years. Her areas of expertise include property relationship matters, child support, divorce, financial and children's cases.

Doug Williams has been promoted from senior associate to principal lawyer in motor vehicle accidents and workers' compensation in Newcastle. Williams is an accredited specialist in personal injury. He was admitted in 1998 and joined Slater & Gordon in 2005.

Sarah Barnes has been promoted from associate to senior associate in asbestos in the firm's Sydney branch. Barnes joined Slater & Gordon in March 2010 and has many years' experience in dust disease law.

Gemma McAndrew has been promoted from lawyer to associate at the firm's Newcastle branch in workers' compensation. McAndrew commenced as a graduate in 2006 and was admitted in 2007.

Charmaine Tanner has been promoted from lawyer to associate lawyer in family law at Coffs Harbour. Tanner joined the firm in 2008 after the acquisition of Crane Butcher McKinnon. She has been practising family law for five years following earlier careers as an industrial chemist and a science teacher.

In Queensland, Abraham Arends has been promoted from associate to senior associate in motor vehicle accidents in the firm's Brisbane office. Arends joined Slater & Gordon in 2008 after the acquisition of Carter Capner's personal injuries litigation practice.

In Western Australia, Lillian Makinda has been promoted from lawyer to associate in workers' compensation in the firm's Joondalup office. Makinda joined the firm in 2008 after previously working for Ilberys Lawyers and D&G Price & Co.
