CHOOSING BETWEEN a run twice around the Pan, or a walk once around, 800 members of the legal profession turned up for the Law Institute of Victoria Legal Fun Run this year.

First prize went to Peter Hulbert of Blake Dawson Waldron in the Individual Male Runner category, followed closely by Adrian Ryan from Middletons Lawyers and Malcolm Campbell from Nicholas O’Donohue & Co.

In the Individual Female Runner category, Mallesons Stephen Jacques’ Sarah Mackay was narrowly defeated by Nicole Joseph from Brian Ward & Partners. Herbert Geer and Rundle’s Eliza Holt came in third.

The fastest overall team, though, was Deacons, who also grabbed the Fastest Overall Runner for those aged between 40 to 49.

The event is “just a nice thing for lawyers and staff to do on a Monday night”, LIV CEO John Cain said. “Afterwards there is a barbeque and socialising down by the river.”

The LIV Fun Run has been an annual event for 25 years, Cain said, and “it is just something to do in Melbourne in Spring”.
