At the end of his studies, he is expected to present a model for the most effective Australian regulatory response to the challenges of anthropogenic climate change.

The primary purpose of Blustein's research is to develop strategies which will allow Australia to make the transition to a low-carbon economy while continuing to develop its economic credentials and improving energy security.

Blustein will examine, analyse and critique existing and proposed regulatory approaches in Australia, the UK, Europe and the US for achieving greenhouse gas emission reductions, increased use of renewable energy and the enhancement of energy efficiency.

It is hoped that the outcomes of Blustein's research will include an integrated model which will allow the development of more sustainable environmental outcomes for Australia.

Minter Ellison's climate change practice leader. Allison Warburton. said the introduction of new laws and policies in relation to climate change are affecting all parts of the economy.

"Climate change polices and laws are intended to drive significant structural change in our economy. This scholarship gives Shol the opportunity to be part of this change," she said.
