Corporate lawyer Jamie Restas, 38, will work closely with the firm's chief executive officer, Stuart Price, in developing the firm's strategy.

"Jamie brings a lot of drive to the boardroom and I look forward to working with him on realising our goal of being the best law firm in South Australia," said Price.

"This is a very exciting time for Kelly & Co, and we have started the new financial year in a very strong position."

Restas has been a partner at Kelly & Co for seven years and will take over from Michael Durrant, who chose to stand down from the role of after two-and-a-half years.

"We came through the GFC well and the future looks bright. Jamie will bring great energy to the position and is an excellent appointment," said Durrant, who will continue as a senior partner in Kelly & Co's energy & resources practice.

Restas told Lawyers Weekly he is more than ready for the role and hopes to continue the firm's strong results in the Adelaide market.

"I am here for the long haul. I plan to be at the firm for a long time and I hope that in the years to come the firm can cement itself as a dominant player in the marketplace and achieve its goal of being considered the best law firm in South Australia," he said.
