Last night Freehills and CCH launched a new guide to help businesses prepare for the harmonisation of Australia's occupational health and safety laws.

As guest speaker, the Minister for Finance, the Honourable Greg Pearce MLC, briefed the crowd on the arrangements in New South Wales for transitioning from the existing OHS Act to the new WHS Act on 1 January 2012.

The Australian Work Health and Safety Reporter was launched at Freehills' Sydney office as part of National Safe Work Australia Week and was chaired by Senior Australian of the Year, emeritus professor Ron McCallum AO.

"Harmonisation of OHS laws across Australia will impact all businesses and is not something that anyone can afford to overlook," said Freehills senior associate and co-author of the guide, Cormack Dun.
