Carter Newell returns Rock n Roll contract

IN a routine audit of its safe custody documents, Brisbane-based firm Carter Newell Lawyers has stumbled upon the original promotional recording contract between the Gibb brothers, of the Bee Gees, signed 50 years ago. The Roll 'n' Roll treasure has now been returned to the oldest brother of the Bee Gees trio after the firm undertook a lengthy search to track down the original promoters. Carter Newell's practice development manager, Jacki Wilson, said the firm was able to return the agreement 50 years after it was signed by Barry, Robin and Maurice, to the day. Having contacted various media and music industry representatives during her search for the Bee Gees, Carter Newell's Wilson found Barry Gibb and advised him of the existence of the document. Gibb replied: "I am extremely grateful for all your help and your company's efforts in making arrangements for the original contract to be returned to the Gibb family." The Rock family are now believed to be considering putting the contract on display at the Rock and Roll hall of fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Wilson is apparently "star dazed", and can't believe she managed to contact Gibb. "It was always the firm's intention to return this document back to the Gibb family, the fact it has now actually happened is a wonderful achievement and a unique piece of rock n roll history for the firm," she said.
