A Brisbane law firm has released a smartphone app to help Queenslanders gauge possible entitlements for injury compensation.

The move comes in a string of similar law firm apps aimed at being there in the case of, or immediately after, an accident.

Brisbane law firm Bennett and Philp Lawyers has launched the injury compensation app to help Queenslanders determine possible entitlements if they pursue an injury compensation claim.

The App, which is being provided through the Apple App store and is also available for users of Android systems, has been developed by Bennett and Philp compensation lawyer Chris Ng.

Ng, who is also a director of the firm, said the move had to be carefully structured to conform to Queensland’s rigid laws which impose severe restrictions on firms advertising injury compensation services.

“A person downloading the App is deemed to be making an inquiry about possible compensation entitlements which means we can provide some information,” he said.

“The idea is to streamline the process and advise in general what people injured in a motor vehicle or workplace accident, for example, may be entitled to claim.

“It’s about making sure people with a genuine claim have access to information to assist their decision-making,” he said.

The firm’s move comes after Queensland firm Trilby Misso launched a free app designed to provide assistance in gathering information at the time of a traffic accident. The app allows the user to gather information, take photos of the accident, and then email a report to Trilby Misso Lawyers to information on legal rights.
