Prior to being made a partner, Ms Calverley practised as a solicitor in South Africa for six years in the field of commercial and property law, before admission as a solicitor in NSW and Queensland in 2001.

Meanwhile, Mr Jackson’s promotion has seen him become a partner in the firm’s commercial team, where he is responsible for advising clients on an extensive range of commercial and corporate matters, business mergers, acquisitions and sales, tax and structuring issues, self-managed superannuation, asset protection and succession, restricting and exit strategies.

Mr Jackson has held associate and senior associate positions at Cooper Grace Ward since 2008. His background also includes presenting at seminars and conferences on a range of topics for The Tax Institute, the Television Education Network, the Queensland Law Society, the SMSF Association and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Cooper Grace Ward also promoted Carly Ashwood to special counsel and Sandra Barry to associate of the firm.

Ms Ashwood has been with the firm since 2004 in the commercial team and specialises in not-for-profit franchising and corporate matters.

Ms Barry joined Cooper Grace Ward in November 2015 and has been working in the workplace relations and safety team.

The firm also announced that Janet Wilson has stepped into the newly created role of chief executive officer. She has been with Cooper Grace Ward for over 10 years, having served as general manager and then chief operating officer since 2010.

Ms Wilson’s new role sees her lead the executive management team, working closely with managing partner Chris Ward and the board to drive the firm’s strategic agenda.
