AS PART of a move to strengthen its equity capital markets team in Perth, Deacons M&A partner James Stewart will relocate from Sydney to take up a position in the Perth office.

Stewart was drawn to the Perth office after having worked closely with the team on some large M&A transactions over the last year.

“I was attracted to working in such a vibrant market as Western Australia. The corporate practice of Deacons in Perth is among the most active in the country, with high deal flow, an unswerving outcomes focus, great team strength and exposure to a booming economy. I’m looking forward to it immensely,” he said.

Stewart is an experienced M&A lawyer who has worked on a number of large transactions, including the recent Fairfax-Rural Press merger, and while based now in Perth, he will continue to be involved in national M&A transactions.

He will work alongside Shaun McRobert who is the head of corporate/EMC in Perth.
