The Aussie law firm has bolstered its disputes resolution team with the appointment of Christine Small, a lateral hire from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Managing partner Peter Slattery said the growth of the disputes team is the result of increasing regulatory activity and a spike in major disputes.

“In addition to market trends, we are seeing more opportunity for our disputes team as their reputation for success, and cost-effectiveness, becomes better known across the various markets in which we operate,” Mr Slattery said.

“Christine is a highly talented litigator, and having her on the team will help us meet the growth and demand as well as broaden our team on the ground in Brisbane.”

Ms Small is experienced in managing large-scale litigation, arbitrations and professional determinations across a variety of areas, including in financial services, resources and infrastructure, property and general contractual and commercial disputes.

She will contribute to managing many of Australia’s complex litigation. Recently, the firm’s success included representing applicants in a class action against Dick Smith and executive directors that came from the collapse of the major electronic retailer.

Ms Small said she was looking forward to joining the team.

“Johnson Winter & Slattery’s experience in high-profile litigation, regulatory investigations and class actions is impressive, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to play a part in the firm’s success,” she said.
