Middletons hires former Clayton Utz expert

Middletons hires former Clayton Utz expert

Middletons has scooped a Clayton Utz lawyer for its technology and innovations group.

MIDDLETONS has scooped a Clayton Utz lawyer for its technology and innovations group.

Kate Marshall has joined the firm as partner, a move she said gives her the chance to service great clients. But she attributes the move primary to the firm’s commitment to its employees well-being and development.

“It is obvious why the firm is so successful and I wanted to be part of it,” she said.

Previously at Clayton Utz, Marshall has experience in a range of Australian and international transactions relating to technology and intellectual property issues.

National managing partner, Nick Nichola said Marshall offers clients a commercial focus with practical advice.

“She understands how to balance the desire for favourable business outcomes with the need to mitigate risks. There is no doubt that [Marshall] embodies our straight talking philosophy to which our clients have become accustomed,” he said.

Marshall’s practice is primarily concerned with negotiating and drafting agreements, intellectual property management, including copyright, trademark and patent advice work, and negotiating and drafting technology contracts including systems integration and outsourcing arrangements and litigation in relation to each of these areas. She has also acted on the IP and IT aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Marshall has moved to Middletons’ corporate and commercial group, headed by Chris Nikou.
