Law firm Hall & Wilcox hired a former Freehills lawyer to head its superannuation practice.

LAW firm Hall & Wilcox hired a former Freehills lawyer to head its superannuation practice.

Pamela McAlister was formerly with Freehills’ superannuation and Greenfields financial services lawyers, and was general council and group executive government at Australian Unity.

McAlister has also worked as the deputy executive director of financial services regulation at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

Hall & Wilcox managing partner, Tony Macvean, said McAlister’s experience and expertise in superannuation and financial services law and compliance complements the firm’s existing financial services industry strength.

“The existing depth and breadth of our financial services and superannuation practice, as well as in areas such as taxation (direct and indirect), M&A, employment and real estate, will provide a perfect complement to [her] practice enabling her to better service her strong client base,” Macvean said.

She is an active member of numerous industry committees, currently being the deputy chair of the Law Council Superannuation Committee.

McAlister will join Hall & Wilcox in early November 2010.
