Rear has been appointed as a principle at the firm in its corporate practice group. Before Cottd he worked at Uk firm Herbert Smith. 

The firm's managing principal, Philip Lucas, said the hire is partly a result of the continuing upheaval in the legal industry

As well, the firm's "strategy to be a leading corporate WA law firm", has lured "young guns" like Rear, and other former top-tier lawyers to the firm.

The new hire's experience includes advising on private and public M&A transactions, equity capital markets and general corporate advisory work including takeovers, schemes of arrangement, fundraisings including IPOs and billion dollar rights issues and placings.

His clients have included many major corporate businesses and investment banks and he has acted for both issuers and underwriters.

The firm now has 12 partners and more than 40 professional staff.
