Saxon succeeds Bruce Hambrett, who has been appointed to the firm’s primary management team, the Global Executive Committee.

Saxon is a projects lawyer, focusing on the areas of infrastructure and energy & resources.  He led the Bakers team advising the NSW Government on the state’s electricity privatisation and is currently a key advisor on the next round of NSW Electricity Privatisations.

He will be responsible for the overall governance of Bakers’ Australian offices and will support national managing partner Chris Freeland in developing the firm's strategic initiatives.

As a member of Bakers’ Global Executive Committee, Hambrett will be responsible for the implementation of the firm’s global strategy.

Chris Freeland thanked Hambrett for his work as chairman of the firm’s Australian offices over the last three years.

“He has been a key part of many of the important developments of the Australian offices at Baker & McKenzie during his time as chairman,” said Freeland.

The two appointments were announced at the firm’s Annual Meeting in New York on 5 October. Both Saxon and Hambrett will continue to be based in Sydney.
