Herbert Geer has lost its fourth partner to CBP in the space of a month.
Construction partner Paul Muscat (pictured) is parting ways with Herbert Geer to join Colin Biggers & Paisley in Brisbane.

Muscat will start his new role in the firm’s construction and engineering team on 23 December.
He is the fourth partner to join CBP’s Queensland office since its merger with Brisbane firm Hemming + Hart on 4 November.
CBP recently poached three other partners and several lawyers from Herbert Geer’s Brisbane office.
Herbert Geer’s entire planning, government, infrastructure and environment team defected to CBP’s Brisbane office in November. CBP scored 13 fee earners, including three partners, and two support staff. A couple of months earlier (30 September), Dan Brush, a technology, media and communications expert at Herbert Geer, joined CBP’s Sydney office as a special counsel.
Muscat has been a partner at Herbert Geer since 2010 and has more than 14 years’ corporate experience as both a barrister and solicitor, with a particular focus on construction, engineering, mining and infrastructure projects.
CBP managing partner Dunstan de Souza commented on the appointment: “Paul’s appointment fits in with the firm’s plan to double the size of the Brisbane office within the next 12 months.”
CBP has 56 partners across its offices in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
