Former Hunt & Hunt associate returns as partner

National mid-tier firm Hunt & Hunt has appointed Russell Wiese as partner to head the firm’s customs and global trade.

Wiese (pictured) previously worked at Hunt & Hunt between 2005 and 2011 as a senior associate, looking after customs and trade, general commercial law and commercial litigation.

His most recent role was at Ernst & Young, where he was a senior manager for almost three years.

Hunt & Hunt said Wiese helps clients manage customs risks and opportunities, including finding ways of reducing supply chain costs.

“Russell provides strategic and commercially astute advice to meet a range of our client’s requirements,” the firm’s partner and national corporate and business advisory group head Nick Miller said.

Wiese said the sector is constantly changing.

“Currently there is an increased focus on the transfer pricing policy of multinationals and the relationship between transfer pricing and customs valuation,” he said.

“This is a complex area with no easy solution.”

The top goal of the firm will be to help clients deal with the challenges of global trade, he added.
