The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) has appointed Nerida Wallace as its new CEO.
Wallace (pictured) will start her term on 6 October. She replaces Michael Brett Young, who will be standing down after eight years in the CEO’s chair.

Wallace is currently the director of her own consultancy, Transformation Management Services. She has previously held legal roles within the Accident Compensation Conciliation Service, Workcover, the Victorian Law Reform Commission, the Family Court and the Attorney-General’s Department.
Brett Young, who is staying on to assist with the transition, was the managing partner of Maurice Blackburn for four years from 2002 to 2006 prior to accepting the CEO role at LIV.
LIV president Geoff Bowyer said the CEO position was a pivotal legal professional role working with key stakeholders, including Attorneys-General, the Department of Justice, Courts Services Victoria, heads of jurisdiction, the Law Council of Australia, law firms and the Victorian Bar, among others.
The LIV currently has over 19,000 members and over 100 staff.
