From firm head to special counsel

A former managing partner of Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers is taking a special counsel role at the Sydney firm.

Tony Carroll (pictured) was a partner at Carroll & O’Dea for more than 50 years, and the managing partner from 2005 to 2007.

He has just accepted a special counsel position more than 60 years after starting at the firm.

“We are immensely proud that Tony will continue to contribute to the firm that not only bears his name but which he has played a fundamental role in shaping,” said current managing partner Howard Harrison.

“Tony Carroll has played a vital role in our development, built on his expertise and experience in commercial law as well as his well-known work in the not-for-profit sector.”

Carroll was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 1997 and was recognised with a Papal Knighthood in 2012.

The news follows the appointment of former Federal attorney-general Robert McClelland as a partner in the firm’s workplace solutions practice.

Carroll & O’Dea also nabbed three dispute resolution partners and a team of lawyers from Sydney firm White Barnes Solicitors in November last year.
