HBA Legal has opened an office in Brisbane, which will be led by former BT Lawyers partner Chris Murphy.
Brett Ablong, HBA Legal’s managing partner, said the rapid growth of the firm was due to its different practice style.

“Strengthening our east coast presence with the new Brisbane office responds to increasing demand for our innovative style of practice,” he said.
Mr Murphy (pictured) said: “Getting Brisbane up and running with the HBA team is truly exciting. HBA offers a creative approach to practice that is attracting forward-thinking clients and great employees.”
Mr Murphy has a background in public liability, workers’ compensation and professional indemnity litigation as well as practice management experience from Maurice Blackburn.
He is joining HBA Legal’s Brisbane practice, while former DLA Piper senior associate James Baird joins the Sydney team as a partner.
