Mr MacPhail (pictured), who joined the firm on 8 February, brings the total number of partners to 11. His appointment follows that of former DMAW Lawyers senior associate Malinda Kuo as partner last year.
“As soon as I walked into Lynch Meyer I knew I had found the right place,” said Mr MacPhail.
“I was attracted to the firm because of its high-performance culture as well as the real focus on clients and outcomes.”
Mr MacPhail has worked for major law firms in London, Sydney and Melbourne in all aspects of IP and IT law.
He is a past president of the Copyright Society of Australia and is deputy chair of The Hospital Research Foundation.
“Clearly, we’re doing something right if we’re growing when other law firms are downsizing” said the firm’s chair of partners, Michael Hutton.
“Our growing business and ability to attract quality people shows that our approach is working.”
