BTLawyers has bolstered its specialist insurance offering by announcing the appointment of its first female equity partner.

Former insurance lawyer Kerrie Jackson (pictured) has been promoted at the Brisbane-based firm, bringing to her new role significant litigation and dispute resolution experience.

Prior to joining BTLawyers in 2012, Ms Jackson worked for McCullough Robertson, Mullins Lawyers and Maurice Blackburn.

BTLawyers partner and founder Bruce Thomas says Ms Jackson’s promotion comes during a time of significant change for the firm, with the recent introduction of three new practice areas to diversify its specialist insurance offering.

“We’re delighted to welcome Kerrie as an equity partner of the firm during this exciting
growth phase for the firm,” Mr Thomas said.

“Since joining BTLawyers in 2012, Kerrie has proven to be a respected lawyer and leader within the firm, both by our staff and clients.

“Kerrie’s litigation and dispute resolution skills are outstanding, and she has an incredible record of success, with seven trial wins in the last couple of years. But it’s her vision for our future direction, and her commitment to promoting diversity within the firm, that makes her such an excellent asset. We are thrilled that Kerrie sees her future here with BTLawyers.”

Ms Jackson said it was the quality of lawyers and the expansion plans of the firm that led her to take on an equity partnership role.

“At BTLawyers we have a very progressive agenda,” she said.

“We’ve always approached things a bit differently to other firms. We’re quite adventurous in how we solve problems for our clients, and we like to be able to make things happen quickly.

“I’m excited by the prospect of offering that to a broader range of clients as we expand.”
