Mak is the second Freehills M&A partner to have moved across to Corrs in a matter of weeks, following Braddon Jolley.
Mak is a highly experienced M&A lawyer with particular focus in schemes of arrangement and takeovers. She also has expertise in securities transactions and general corporate matters. She has been involved in several high-profile M&A transactions, including the $9 billion merger between Fairfax and Rural Press.
She has nearly 10 years of international experience, including six years with Freshfields in London and Hong Kong, which involved a six-month secondment to Morgon Stanley’s M&A legal team and a five-month secondment to Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division in Hong Kong. During her time overseas, she advised Brambles Ltd on its £7 billion ($16 billion) merger with GKN plc’s industrial services business by way of a dual-listed company structure and Goldman Sachs as joint global co-ordinator for the Hong Kong Housing Authority’s US$2 billion ($2.5 billion) Link REIT offering.
