Shahriar Mofakhami, a partner, and Tina Savona, a senior associate, will be based in Maddocks’ commercial team in Melbourne. Both Mofakhami and Savona specialise in direct taxation relevant to the financial services industry.

Mofakhami, who was with Mallesons for eight years, has particular expertise in relation to the taxation of trusts, financial institution instruments, structuring financial products, international taxation matters (both inbound and outbound), taxation of life insurance companies, capital gains tax, private equity acquisitions and infrastructure investments.

Savona, who was with Mallesons for five years, advises on a broad range of taxation issues related to the design and implementation of structured finance and investment products, domestic and cross-border structured transactions, private equity, infrastructure, corporate finance and restructuring.
