MINTER ELLISON has lured Coles Group’s executive general counsel and company secretary, Richard Dammery, to the firm’s M&A team. Dammery has joined the firm as a partner, and will be based in its Melbourne office.

During his two years at Coles, Dammery lead the project teams on two landmark transactions — the sale of Myer and the takeover of Coles by Wesfarmers. He has also previously held senior legal and commercial roles at Telstra, Telecom Corporation of New Zealand and AAPT, as well as working at another large firm.
John Steven, head of the firm’s national corporate division, was pleased that Dammery had accepted the offer to join the firm.
“Richard will be a valuable addition to the M&A team nationally. Through his senior executive experience with one of Australia’s largest companies and in the corporate sector more broadly, Richard knows the market and is well known by the market. His track record of successful outcomes in outstanding,” Steven said.
Dammery is the fourth corporate partner that Minters has appointed in the last two months.
