In the next year, Alden will act as a representative on the young lawyer committee of the Law Council of Australia, while also working closely with the NSW Law Society council.

“This is a tremendously exciting time to be leading an organisation like NSW Young Lawyers and I am looking forward to a very active year,” Alden said.

Alden has a particular interest in public administration, water and legal ethics. He intends for the Young Lawyers to “consider and debate issues of concern to all of us, such as environmental sustainability, the rule of law and human rights, as well as ensuring issues of particular concern to Young Lawyers are advanced, such as appropriate mentoring and job satisfaction and legal ethics”.

Alden rose to his new role after many years of service in the legal profession, including the NSW Law Society Ethics Committee, NSW Young Lawyers and the Australian Water Association. He is also a member of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and the Australian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (ANCID).

Alden has many years of experience in commercial transactions, including state government infrastructure projects and general contractual and legislative advice. He has also advised on the tendering process, government capital and services procurement, infrastructure contracts and performance-based contracting.
