Minter Ellison has appointed Josh Simons as partner in its intellectual property practice. Simons was previously with Thomson Playford and has experience in commercial litigation and other commercial areas. He has advised on a range of issues relating to the development, use and protection of intellectual property assets.

Mallon & Co has appointed Peter McAppion as a senior associate. McAppion was previously at Clayton Utz. He is experienced in intellectual property law, and has professional experience as a metallurgist and industrial chemist. He has handled intellectual property matters involving mineral processing and mining equipment.

Mills Oakley has appointed Andrew Wallis as partner, Ian Taylor as senior associate and Jane Wild as solicitor. All of them specialise in construction law and come from PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal.

TressCox Lawyers has announced the appointment of David Lyons as a partner in the firm’s Brisbane office. Lyons’ experience includes the areas of multi-jurisdictional financing, commercial financing, investment in Asia, some aspects of capital markets and all aspects of corporate, trade, agricultural and business finance. He is a national board member of the Australia China Business Council and President of the Hong Kong Australia Business Association in Queensland.

Lynch Meye r has announced the appointment of two new senior associates in the firm’s property and construction department. Melanie Fuss has been part of the property team since her admission five years ago and has worked with clients on a range of Adelaide property developments. She was awarded the Urban Institute of Australia’s Stuart Main Young Development Professional Award in December 2005. Fiona Lee joined Lynch Meyer in February 2006 and is experienced in building and construction law, industrial and employment law and general civil and commercial litigation. She is a board member of the National Association of Women in Construction.
