Middletons has further strengthened its national property and development team with the acquisition of a seven-person team for its Sydney office. The new team is headed by partners Steven Mackay and Robert Savage and senior associate Anne Sandeman.

Phillips Fox has appointed five new senior associates, three of whom are internal promotions and two are new recruits. Troy Anderson, formerly of Piper Alderman, joins the firm as a senior associate in the transport and trade group. Clive Madder, a member of the same group, was promoted to senior associate. Ben Hall, who specialises in medical negligence and liability claims, was also promoted. The firm’s Adelaide insurance team has added two new senior associates. Linda Appelbee, formerly the Clinical Risk Management Officer at SAICORP, has extensive experience in the medical negligence area in both industry and private practice. Julie Kinnear specialises in professional indemnity and liability claims.

Toomey Pegg Drevikovsky has appointed Jennifer Flinn to the position of senior associate. She specialises in industrial relations and employment law and has a particular interest in commercial litigation. The firm said Flinn has extensive experience in advising employers, government organisations and executives on a wide variety of employee related matters, including occupational health and safety, discrimination in the workplace, termination of employment, unfair contracts, restraints of trade and the implementation of workplace policies.

Melbourne commercial law firm Hall & Wilcox has welcomed two additions to the partnership. Corporate & commercial lawyer Bruce McFarlane has practised in commercial and property law with the firm for eight years. He is experienced in medium and large-scale transactions, particularly in the financial services industry. Newly appointed insurance partner Matthew McDonald chiefly manages large recoveries and liability defence claims for major insurers and commercial clients. Hall & Wilcox has also promoted two lawyers to the position of senior associate. Corporate & commercial lawyer William Khong joined Hall & Wilcox in 2001. Employment & workplace relations lawyer Alison Baker has been with Hall & Wilcox for four years.
