Essential services provider United Group Limited (UGL) has appointed Jean-Paul Wallace as its chief legal officer.

Wallace was previously the company's group manager, legal and risk, and was responsible for developing UGL's risk management program.

Wallace has 15 years' experience advising major national and international organisations, including law firms, and more recently was an internal legal adviser for engineering companies Downer EDI Limited and ABB Australia Pty Ltd.

He also has considerable overseas experience, particularly in Asia, having lived and worked in Hong Kong for several years. He is qualified as a lawyer in Australia, Hong Kong, England and Wales.
