Firms act on cheesy deal

HWL Ebsworth and Minter Ellison have acted on the sale of Jindi Cheese to Dairy Giant.

Key players: HWL Ebsworth's team was led by tax and M&A partners Leon Gorr and Jeremy McCarthy, with assistance from M&A senior associate Sam Dwyer and property partner David Marriott. Partner Jeremy Blackshaw led for Minters and was assisted by senior associates David Schiavello and Grant Cheeseman and lawyer Francesca Hazlett.

Deal significance: Jindi Cheese is an iconic Australian speciality cheese manufacturer with a range that includes a premium selection of white, washed rind, blue mould and pressed cheeses.  Based in Gippsland, Victoria, in the heart of Australia’s dairy farming region, its cheeses have won multiple domestic and international awards.  Lactalis Groupe is the largest dairy products company in the world with a presence in nearly 150 countries.  In Australia, Lactalis also owns Parmalat, a producer of milk, dairy products and fruit-based beverages, and Lemnos, which makes Feta and Haloumi cheeses.
