Emily Peterson, from Legal Tender claims the website will help drive down legal costs by introducing greater transparency and competition in the industry.

Legal Tender takes the guess work out of hiring a lawyer, by asking law firms to tender for work by providing an estimate of costs and information on experience, skill and suitability, added Peterson.

“Existing legal referral services only give clients the name of a lawyer and a phone number. What the client really wants to know, however, is “How much will my case cost?”

She said Legal Tender gives consumers greater choice, more knowledge and helps them get a better deal.

“Clients are demanding value for money. Legal Tender provides all the information required to make an informed decision.”

The online service already has more than 80 legal firms currently on the books, and is free to consumers and businesses. The only cost is a flat fee paid by the successful law firm when it wins a tender.
