Deal: Canadian pension fund Caisse’s first Australian investment in five local public-private partnerships

Area: Infrastructure

Value: $139 million

Key players: Corporate partner Ben Liu led the Minters team, which also included partners Theo Kindynis and Adrian Varrasso. Herbert Geer’s team was led by Martin Irwin (pictured) and Michael Truelove

Deal significance: The Québec-based fund Caisse has CD$152 billion in net assets. It has taken stakes in five PPPs managed by Melbourne-based Plenary, including the Melbourne Convention Centre and Australian Defence Force accommodation units.
