Key players: The Bird & Bird team advising Sapphire Ventures was led by London-based corporate partner Shing Lo, with assistance from Sydney-based special counsel Lisa Vanderwal (pictured).

Deal significance: Sapphire Ventures is a Silicon Valley-based venture capital company. Bird & Bird advised Sapphire Ventures on its US$20 million Series C round financing of the employee feedback and analytics platform Culture Amp.

Culture Amp has operations in Australia, the UK and the US. Its clients include Airbnb, Adobe, Estée Lauder and Lyft.

Existing investors, including Index Ventures, Felicis Ventures and Blackbird Ventures, also participated in the funding round. Culture Amp intends to invest the funds in its analytics technology and growing its team.

“It was a great privilege to be able to assist the Sapphire Ventures team,” said lead partner Shing Lo.

“We are excited to see Sapphire work with Culture Amp as it moves into the next stage of its growth.”
