Lawyers of the Australian firm gathered last month to raise money for not-for-profit groups Health Justice Australia, Share the Dignity and Mimi’s House.
Clayton Utz partner Karen Ingram from Sydney joined 150 members of staff alongside event partners Morgans and Silverchef to pledge donations to the three groups.
More than $100,000 was raised for the grass roots organisations, with Health Justice Australia receiving over $28,000 from the total money pledged.
“The Clayton Utz Foundation was responsible for getting HJA off the ground via a two-year grant of $300,000 made in 2016,” a firm spokesperson said.
“With the additional funds raised from the TFN event, HJA will be able to develop much-needed resources that will help community lawyers and health workers working with vulnerable communities to stop legal problems from becoming health problems.”
The support that HJA has received from Clayton Utz is an example of ongoing corporate philanthropy. In addition to monetary support, lawyers from the firm have provided pro bono legal assistance.
The event held at the Clayton Utz Brisbane office last week is an initiative from The Funding Network, which provides not-for-profit groups a platform to make presentations about what will be done with money donated to them.
Clutz first hosted an event for The Funding Network in our Sydney office last year.
“We’re proud to be part of such a terrific initiative,” the spokesperson said.
