Thomson Reuters announced earlier this month that Alex Chernishev (pictured) has joined its Practical Law Australia business to lead a new banking and finance team.

Mr Chernishev was previously a banking and finance lawyer at Mills Oakley. He also worked as a senior associate at Clayton Utz in Sydney, and for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London.

Mr Chernishev has extensive experience acting for financial institutions, corporate customers and investors, as well as investment managers, trustees and government entities, according to Thomson Reuters.

He now leads the banking and finance team at Practical Law Australia, which provides how-to guides and resources for legal professionals.

“I am excited to be joining Thomson Reuters and to be involved in developing the banking and finance module for Practical Law Australia,” Mr Chernishev said.

“I was exposed to Practical Law while practising in the UK and found its practical tools invaluable for high-paced transactional legal work.

“I am certain that Australian legal practitioners will also embrace Practical Law and find it an indispensable tool in their practice.”
