The interactive tool, which is available through the firm’s Smart Counsel app, explores business activities that now involve greater competition law risk, and provides practical strategies to mitigate these risks.
“The app focuses on a number of high risk areas – how to identify them and what to do if one of those high risk scenario arises. It works as a screening tool that in-house counsel and business people can constantly access on their mobile phone,” G+T partner Paula Gilardoni said.
Ms Gilardoni, who works in the competition and regulation group at G+T, described HarperReady as a “technology driven risk-based approach” to sharing legal content.
HarperReady relates to two key things that have changed as part of recent Australian competition law reform; specifically the new concerted practices prohibition and the changes to the misuse of market power prohibition.
G+T’s chief knowledge and innovation officer, Caryn Sandler, led the tool’s technical development. She said the firm was always seeking new ways to leverage technology for the benefit of its clients.
“HarperReady provides practical and easily accessible legal resource for our clients. It is another example of the way in which Gilbert + Tobin is helping our clients achieve more with less,” Ms Sandler said.
G+T’s Smart Counsel app is available to download online for free.
