Sparkes poaches 32 from Curwoods
National law firm Sparke Helmore has brought over four partners, two special counsel, one senior associate, 17 lawyers and eight support staff from the entity formerly known as Curwoods Lawyers.

It has now been confirmed that the team of lawyers moving to Sparkes is 32-strong, with partners Ian Jones, Renee Sadler, Matthew Seisun and Kiley Hodges being joined by two special counsel, one senior associate, 17 lawyers and eight support staff.
All lawyers moving across were of the Curwoods’ commercial insurance practice, and the seven senior lawyers have “extensive" insurance experience, Sparkes noted.
Mr Jones said the group of 32 were “excited to make the move” to Sparkes.
“They are the pre-eminent national firm in the insurance space and I know joining with them will make for an insurance practice group that is unparalleled in Australia for its depth and breadth of experience,” he said.
Sparkes national managing partner Phillip Salem said the firm was “thrilled to welcome such an exceptional team” of specialists.
“The addition of these 32 individuals to our commercial insurance practice is yet another significant step in enhancing the legal expertise we provide to our insurance clients nationally,” he said.
“With these high-calibre hires, we enhance our standing as one of the largest insurance law practices in Australia.”
“And we haven’t finished – we have a relentless focus on acquiring the best available in the market to ensure we continue to exceed our clients’ expectations,” he concluded.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story said there were 25 lawyers as well as support staff moving across to Sparkes. This has been amended to break down figures as being 17 lawyers and eight support staff.
