Palisade close out finance for Tasmanian turbines

Continuing their run of renewable energy ventures, KWM has advised Palisade Investment Partners on the financing for development and construction of a Tasmanian wind farm.

Deal: KWM has advised Palisade Investment Partners on the financing for development and construction of a historic 111.6 megawatt wind farm on Tasmania’s west coast.

Value: The Granville Harbour Wind Farm forms part of the $1 billion Palisade renewable energy fund, which also encompasses the Ross River solar farm project.

Area: Energy and resources

Key players: The multi-disciplinary team was led by partners Roderick Smythe, Chris Dynon and Chris Pitson with support from special counsel Trudy Sheehan.

Deal significance: KWM has been involved in this project from the acquisition stage through to development, financing and construction. The 31-turbine project backed by a power purchase agreement with Hydro Tasmania.

The Palisade renewable energy fund was established two years ago to develop renewable energy projects across Australia.

Roderick Smythe was extremely pleased to be able to assist Palisade in reaching financial close on the “historic” renewable energy project.

“Our involvement in this project demonstrates KWM’s ability to seamlessly integrate different parts of the firm to help Palisade reach its objectives. We look forward to the project entering the construction phase and continuing to support Palisade’s renewable energy investments in Australia,” he said.
